Julia Murphy participated in the VFW of Pennsylvania District 10 Voice of Democracy Essay contest. Her essay was selected as a winner at the post level, and she was awarded a $300 scholarship. She represented Post 4712. She attended the Voice of Democracy awards banquet held at Fiorelli Catering on Sunday, January 8th. The essay topic was “Why is The Veteran Important.” Her essay highlighted the selflessness, sacrifice, and determination of our veterans. She also included her personal connection to veterans in her family, especially her Papa, who served in the Navy.
“I was honored to be selected and attend the awards banquet,” explained Murphy. “At the banquet, I got the opportunity to speak with several veterans and hear stories about their time in the navy and army. It gives you a greater appreciation for the sacrifice these veterans give for our country.”
Congratulations to Julia Murphy on her achievement! And as always, a special thank you goes to our veterans for their selfless sacrifice for our freedoms.
