Senior members of Students Against Destructive Decisions recently attend the Lackawanna County Drug and Alcohol Youth Conference held at the Scranton Cultural Center. During the conference, students heard from the Blakely K-9 Unit and saw a demonstration of how the K-9 officer is trained to find drugs. Breakout sessions included hearing the story of Paul Miller, a young man from Scranton who was tragically killed by a distracted driver. Paul’s mother spoke about the law in his name that was passed statewide that prohibits distracted driving. Representatives from the American Lung Association explained the dangers of using vapes and the health risks associated with these addictive devices. Students then got to meet with other SADD groups to discuss events throughout the year.
