Curtains closed on the Carbondale Drama Club season with their final performance of Into the Woods Jr. on May 5th and 6th at 7pm. Into the Woods Jr is an epic tail detailing the events of the Baker (played by Randall Rabb) and his wife (played by Natalie Skeba) as they journey through the woods to lift a spell placed on their house by an evil witch (played by Alex Shockey) and encounter fan favorite fairy tale characters. The show was a whirlwind from Jack (played by Clara Crandall) selling his cow, to Cinderella (played by Mary Miles) losing both her shoes to Little Red Riding Hood (played by Ryleigh Brink) being eaten by the Big Bad Wolf (played by Jamar Kizer). Other noteworthy performances include Cinderella and Rapunzel’s Princes (played by Sam Cain and Michael Padgett respectively) and their song “Agony”. With their boisterous, arrogant personalities, the princes managed to become a fan favorite. Speaking of songs, the finale, sometimes called “Ever After” was so beautiful. The entire ensemble sang, filling the auditorium with joyousness. The cast did an incredible job keeping the attention of the audience from start to finish. There was never a dull moment. The Drama Club deserves a standing ovation for this performance. Sadly, all things must come to an end, and it is with heavy heart that we must say goodbye to our senior thespians, Jamar Kizer, Randall Rabb and Mary Miles. They go on to become bigger and better things in the world of entertainment. Jamar hopes to pursue becoming a Pop and RnB artist. Randall is en route to Marywood to pursue a career in Film. Mary also is attending Marywood for a degree in Musical Theatre. Congratulations to the Drama Club on an outstanding performance, and good luck to the seniors.
