Our first Senior Spotlight for the Carbondale Area Class of 2024 is Girls Varsity Soccer Captain Kaci Bannon. Kaci, also known as “Kaci and the Sunshine Bannons,” is the daughter of Randi and Ryan Bannon. She has two brothers (Colin, CA Class of 2020 and Killian, CA Class of 2022). Kaci has been playing soccer since she was six years old and plays Sweeper/Defender for the Chargerettes.
Kaci has excelled academically in her time here at CAHS. She is a six year member of Academic Honors, the National Honor Society, and the Distinguished Honor Roll, ranking near the top of the class. She balances her academics with numerous extracurricular activities. She has danced at the Carbondale Dance Academy since she was three years old. She is a three-year member of the Mock Trial Team, where she was awarded Best Advocate twice and helped her team reach the District Championship Trial. She is a five-year member of Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science, where she was awarded a First Place Award at every regional competition and was awarded a First Place Award at states in 2022. She is also a member of Future Business Leaders of America, where she placed 4th for Computer Problem Solving. She is also on the National Business Honor Society. She is also the Secretary of the Future Teachers Club, where she serves as a peer tutor and mentor. She also will be tutoring for the Physics Club this year. Additionally, Kaci is also in Student Council, Students Against Destructive Decisions, and will be joining the Math Club. She also works as a babysitter.
Kaci’s favorite subject is Biology. Her favorite CA Memory is 10th Grade 3rd Period Honors Geometry with Mr. Foote. She enjoys skiing, volunteering to teach dance, and reading John Green books (her favorite being “Turtles All the Way Down”). She is interested in the role Forensics plays in catching criminals. She plans to attend a four-year university to major in Pre-Forensic Science with the goal of going for her Master’s Degree to become a Forensic Biologist and work with the FBI.
The Carbondale Area School District congratulates Kaci on her achievements thus far and wishes her the best of luck in her future endeavors.
