Carbondale Area students recently attended the 2024 PRLA Hospitality Career Exploration Workshop, an immersive event aimed at introducing them to the hospitality industry. Students participated in interactive culinary and pastry demonstrations, working directly with chefs to prepare recipes. A lunch session incorporated lessons on dining etiquette, providing both a meal and valuable social skills.
During the workshop, students had the chance to connect with industry professionals from a variety of notable organizations, including hospitality and tourism leaders like Settlers Hospitality, Frogtown Chophouse, Barley Creek Brewing Company, Camelback Resort, and Kalahari Resorts, as well as Hilton Scranton and The Nutrition Group. Students also learned about regional attractions from the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau and Pocono International Raceway. Additionally, representatives from the U.S. Coast Guard offered insights into service-oriented career paths, broadening students’ perspectives on opportunities within and beyond the hospitality industry.
