Lizmarie Graham Cruz was selected as Carbondale Area’s Representative for the University of Scranton’s University of Success Program. Students are nominated in 8th grade and if selected by the University committee, they participate in a two-week residential Summer Academy. Students live on campus, attend classes, and participate in recreational and social activities. The program exposes students to STEM topics like physics, biology and environmental science.
“The program was really fun last summer. We made a greenhouse tiny home and researched information about greenhouse gases. We now go back on a monthly basis to take courses in study skills and SAT Prep,” explained Lizmarie.
