Football Recap: 10-09-21

 

The Chargers football team defeated Susquehanna by a score of 52-26. Junior running back Vincent DePalma rushed the ball sixteen times for 323 yards (20.2 yards per carry) and 3 touchdowns. He also threw an 18 yard touchdown pass to quarterback Guy Mushow on a trick play. As a result of his performance, Vincent earned the Scranton Times Tribune Athlete of the Week honors. Senior Logan Wormuth had a 53 yard touchdown run and caught a 50 yard touchdown pass. Davon Reams added the other touchdown on the ground. Jon Orta had an interception with a one-handed grab and Reams added a pick of his own at the one yard line, preventing a Susquehanna score. Colin “Kicker” Bailers kicked a 36 yard field goal and scored 7 PATs in his first ever football game and gives the Chargers another dimension to their special teams.

The 2001 Chargers were in attendance to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of their District 2 Class A Championship Title. They were honored on the field prior to the game.
