Carbondale Area Celebrates Class of 2025 Commencement

 

Carbondale Area held its annual commencement ceremony inside the Maureen Mussari Kania Memorial Auditorium to celebrate the Class of 2025 on Friday, June 6, 2025. The evening started with a parade around downtown Carbondale. The seniors then met in the high school commons area and processed into the auditorium. They were greeted by school administration, board directors, faculty, family, and friends.

Students processed into the auditorium to “Pomp and Circumstance.” Thomas Seymour and Collin Hollis, Eagle Scouts, took charge of the Presenting of the Colors. Mr. Lawrence Gabriel III, Assistant Principal, welcomed everyone as the Master of Ceremonies. The CA Chamber Singers then sang the National Anthem, while Mr. Gabriel led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Salutatorian Abigail Wall and Valedictorian Hong Tran addressed their classmates, reflecting on past memories and encouraging them to look towards the future and to dream big. Dr. Jessica Cosklo Brennan, Carbondale Area Class of 2002, gave her commencement address to the class  and provided wisdom and advice to the seniors.

Abigail Wall, Senior Class President, passed on the mantle to Junior Class President Olivia Lawler. Afterwards, Mr. Joseph Farrell, High School Principal, and Mrs. Megan Ruggiero, Director of Guidance, presented the students who were awarded the Ruth Giles Schroeder Scholarship. Those recipients were: Caitlyn Burns, Eliana Connolly, Angelica Prieto, Hong Tran, and Abigail Wall.

 

Mr. Joseph Farrell, High School Principal, presented the Class of 2025 to the Superintendent of Schools, Mrs. Holly Sayre, and certified they have fulfilled all requirements to earn a High School Diploma in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Mr. David Osborne, School Board President, presented the diplomas to the class. The students celebrated their achievement and processed out to “Where Did the Time Go?”

Mr. Aaron Yurkanin of Oak Tree, as a thank you for your business throughout this year, has offered complimentary free photos. Photos are available on the Class of 2025 Senior Team on Microsoft Office Teams. Seniors can download their respective photos prior to June 30, when they will lose access to their Microsoft account.
