Over the weekend, three Carbondale Area Elementary teams represented the district at the NEPA Girls in STEM competition hosted by Scranton High School.
Girls from 5th and 6th grade showcased their skills in engineering, mathematics, Scratch Coding, science and new this year, T-shirt design.
All girls displayed innovation, creativity, teamwork, leadership and determination.
In the end, one of our teams, “Multiplicative,” reigned superior taking home 1st place overall. The members included Isabelle, “Izzy,” Gregory, Brooke Boguski and Nora Balderas. When asked to reflect on the lessons learned from the completion, Nora stated, “You never give up, you will fail multiple times, those failures lead to success.” Brooke commented, “This competition challenges your brain, and hard work was worth it in the end.” Izzy declared, “Preparing has taught me organizational skills and hard work pays off in the end.”
Coaches Mrs. Andrea Knick and Mrs. Leslie Staples are extremely proud of all their girls!!
