Walter Paciga Post 4712 and Auxillary recently held a Voice of Democracy, Patriots Pen, and Teacher of the Year Contest. The post had thirty entries from two schools, and the top essays were picked for each category. All essays embodied the theme “How are you Showing Patriotism and Support for our Country?” The participants demonstrated exceptional commitment to the values of democracy, patriotism, and educational excellence. The competition saw a remarkable display of creativity and thoughtful reflection. The essays also highlighted the unique ways individuals of all ages contribute to their communities. The essays captured the spirit of American patriotism.

Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Nominees
First Place- Mr. Bruce Gordon, Social Studies Teacher
Runner Up- Mr. Thomas Mauro, Social Studies Teacher
All winners will be invited to a small Pizza Part Ceremony at VFW Post 4712 in December, while the first place finishers will be invited to the VFW District #10 Voice of Democracy/Patriots Pen Banquet in January, where the District winner will be announced.
