On Friday, January 24, Carbondale Area’s Unified Sports and Aevidum Club joined 12 other schools from Northeast PA for the Northeast Cool Schools Polar Plunge, supporting Special Olympics. Dr. Samantha Masco highlighted the natural partnership between Unified Sports and Aevidum, as both organizations emphasize inclusion, friendship, and advocacy within the school community.
Students from both clubs worked hard to fundraise toward a school goal of $2,500—and their dedication paid off, surpassing the goal with over $3,500 raised! The funds directly support Special Olympics Pennsylvania and participation in Unified Sports.
The event was an unforgettable experience for all involved. Students enjoyed Plunge Town activities, danced and sang with peers from other schools, and bravely took the plunge into the icy water. Leading the charge was Mr. Michael Murphy, who kept his promise to participate once the fundraising goal was met! Thank you to all who supported this worthy cause.
This may have been the Chargers’ first Polar Plunge, but it certainly won’t be the last!
