Carbondale Area students recently spent two days participating in the Chief Science Officers (CSO) Leadership Institute at Johnson College, proudly representing IU19 as the only school district in Lackawanna County involved in this STEM leadership program.
This marks Carbondale Area’s second year participating in the CSO initiative. During the training, CSOs Alexis Borosky, Rahi Patel, Colt Calabro, and Claire Serkosky served as student leaders, guiding and mentoring groups of new CSO participants from LIU18. New CSOs to the Carbondale Area team include Gabrielle Kielar, Riley Hazelton, Rebecca Shiffer, and Alia Vrabel.
CA’s CSOs are continuing to develop their STEM mission, learning how to increase STEM awareness, and building leadership skills to make a positive impact in our school and community.
Their first opportunity to shine will be next week as they take on leadership roles during the Science and Technology Club’s STEM Night in celebration of International STEM Day!
