Our next Senior Spotlight for the Carbondale Area Class of 2024 is Class Poet Molly Kelly, an honor given to the third-ranked student in the graduating class. Molly is the daughter of Alex and Melissa Kelly. She has a sister, Emily Kelly, a 2022 CA Alumni. Molly has excelled academically in her time at CA as a member of Academic Honors, the National Honor Society, and the Distinguished Honor Roll.
Molly also has been involved in several sports, clubs, and activities. She was a Varsity Soccer Captain, where she played Midfield, and a Varsity Basketball Captain, where she played Forward/Center. She was also a Cheerleading Captain. She was also on the Unified Track and Field Team. Molly also volunteers her time as a YMCA Youth Soccer Coach. In addition to athletics, Molly is the Vice-President of the Senior Class and the President of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). She competed at the National FBLA Competition in Chicago (2022) and qualified for 2023 Nationals. In the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS), she earned two perfect scores at the regional level and five First-Place Regional Awards. She was a peer tutor as a member of the Future Teachers and Physics Clubs. She was also involved in SADD, Science and Technology Club, Yearbook/Photography Club, Medical Careers Club, Spanish Club, Math Club, and Watershed.
Molly’s favorite CA memories are the FBLA Nationals Trip to Chicago and any Lakeland versus Carbondale Basketball games. She enjoys traveling, hanging out with friends and family, and being active/playing sports. Her favorite subject is Math. She plans to major in Biology on the Pre-Med Track at the University of Arizona with the goal of becoming a Radiologist. The Carbondale Area School District congratulates Molly on her achievements thus far and wishes her the best of luck with her future endeavors.
