Our next Senior Spotlight is Caitlyn “Cait” Burns, who was named the Class of 2025 Class Poet due to ranking third in the class. Caitlyn is the daughter of Alicia Novak and Robert Bruzas. She has three sisters sisters: Alexis Novak, a sophomore at the high school, Gabriella Novak, a freshman at the high school, and Kasey Bruzas, a 2017 graduate of Dunmore. She also has a brother, Jake, an eighth grader at North Pocono.
Caitlyn was involved in several extracurricular activities during high school. She participated in Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) for six years and was awarded the Perseverance Award as a result. She participated in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), where she ranked First in Health Administration and qualified for states her senior year. She was also a member of Science and Technology Club, Math Club, Student Council, Health Club, Spanish Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Astronomy Club, and Physics Club. She was a Basketball Team Captain as a four-year member and was a Volleyball Team Captain at Forest City her junior and senior years. She was a league all-star in 2022. She also participates in a Bowling League at Idle Hours North and is employed there, too. Additionally, she is employed at Subway.
Caitlyn balanced her academics very well with her extracurricular activities, as she is a member of Academic Honors and National Honor Society. Her favorite subject is Math, especially Geometry proofs. Her favorite CA memory is winning “Most Dedicated” during the Senior Golf Trip. She enjoys reading and spending time with friends and family. She plans to attend Arcadia University to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology on the Pre-Med Track in hopes to become a Psychiatrist. The Carbondale Area School District congratulates Caitlyn on her achievements thus far, especially being ranked third in her class, and wishes her the best of luck in her future endeavors.
