Senior Spotlight: Elvira Marrero

 

Our next Senior Spotlight for the Class of 2025 is 2024 Homecoming Queen Elvira “Vi” Marrero. Elvira’s family includes her cousin and guardian, Kathy Figueora, her two sisters Mia and Glenda Marrero (CA Class of 2022), and Abigail Burgos, her cousin and 4th grader at the elementary school.

Elvira played Defender and Midfielder on the Soccer team for three seasons. She also competed in Track and Field, where she tied the Pole Vault record her sophomore year. She also was on the 4×100 Relay and competed in the Long Jump. She also was a cheerleader.

 

Elvira is involved at several other activities here at CA. She is a member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Science and Technology Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Yearbook, Spanish Club, Ski Club, and Prom Committee. She has served as Treasurer of Student Council and Future Teachers Club. As a member of the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS), she earned a First Place Award at both the regional and state competitions. She is also a member of the Tomorrow’s Teachers Program, where she taught 2nd Graders.

Elvira’s favorite subject is English. Her favorite CA memory is winning Homecoming Queen. She is employed at McGee’s. She enjoys hanging out with friends and family, working, going for car rides, and walking/running. Her future plans are to enlist in the military. The Carbondale Area School District congratulates Elvira on her achievements so far and wishes her the best of luck in her future endeavors.
