Our next student to be honored in our Senior Spotlight is Kacydi Lynn “Kac” Brewen. Kacydi is the daughter of Christina and Jacob Brewen. She also has one brother, Ethen, an eighth grader here at the high school. Kacydi, who wore #13, played soccer for the Carbondale Area Chargerettes each fall for three seasons in the Right Wing position. Being new to the sport as a sophomore, Kacydi quickly earned a starting position. She was an aggressive player and an asset to the Chargerettes defense as a midfielder.
Kacydi also doubles up as a softball player. She joined the varsity team as a freshman and proved to be a key player demonstrating excellent work ethic, outstanding understanding of the game and strong leadership skills. While wearing #4, Kacydi’s a dynamic player who has proven her mastery of several positions on the field. The start of Kacydi’s junior year looked promising at the start of the season by adding to the team’s win with her strong bat-assisting in 2 RBIs for the win. Kacydi is a key player to follow in the upcoming 2021 spring softball season.
In addition to athletics, Kacydi is involved and has excelled in many other extracurricular activities here at Carbondale Area. She was most recently elected as the Senior Class President for the Class of 2021. She has placed in states each year as a member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), where she is currently seeking the office of Secretary. She is a four-year member of the Spanish Club, where she is running for the Treasurer’s position. In addition, she has been a member of Student Council for five years. She has been a member of the Prom Committee for two years and is on this year’s Yearbook staff. Kacydi has held employment at Alexander’s Family Restaurant and McGee’s Ice Cream.
Kacydi has excelled academically in her time here at Carbondale Area. She has been a member of the National Honor Society, Academic Honors, and the High Honor Roll. She is ranked 29th in the class. Her favorite subject is Science, and her favorite CA memory is playing in the Powderpuff football game as a Junior. Her hobbies include crafts and playing video games. Kacydi’s future plans are to attend college and earn a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. The Carbondale Area School District congratulates Kacydi on her accomplishments thus far and wishes her the best of luck in her future endeavors.
