Senior Spotlight: Mia Perri

Our next Senior Spotlight for the 2021-2022 school year is senior cheerleader Mia Perri. Mia is the daughter of Debbie and J.J. Perri. She has cheered for three years for both the football and basketball squads and will be a captain for the upcoming basketball season.

Mia has excelled both inside and outside the classroom in her time here at Carbondale Area. She has been a member of Academic Honors and the National Honor Society since the seventh grade. She is a six-year member of Student Council and the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS), where she is a five-time state qualifier- and hopes to do so one final time for a perfect state qualifying record. She is a four-year member of the Mock Trial team, where she won the “Best Witness” award as a sophomore and the Science and Technology Club. She is a three-year member of the Future Teachers Club, where she has tutored junior high students before school on a weekly basis both in-person and virtually. Mia is also a four-year member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). She is a two-year member of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) and a two-year member of the Yearbook/Photography Club.

Mia is involved in activities outside of school, too. She has danced for thirteen years at the Carbondale Dance Academy for Tydvil Leoncini, where she has learned the disciplines of tap, jazz, ballet, hip pop, and lyrical; she has been demonstrating for the past five years as well. Additionally, she is employed at Alexander’s Family Restaurant as a bus girl and hostess and performs data entry for Millenium Enterprises.

Mia’s favorite CA memory is when the class pretended there was an earthquake in Mr. Perri’s English class. Her favorite subject is Biology. She hopes to attend Lehigh University to major in Biology and minor in Criminology. Her eventual goal is to become a medical scientist. The Carbondale Area School District congratulates Mia on her achievements so far and wishes her the best of luck in her future endeavors.

“You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so…get on your way!”- Mia Perri (quoting Dr. Seuss), Carbondale Area Class of 2022. #CarbondaleAreaClassof2022
