Senior Spotlight: Salutatorian Emily Kelly

 

Our next Senior Spotlight is Class of 2022 Salutatorian Emily Kelly. Emily is the daughter of Melissa and Alex Kelly. She has one sister, Molly, a sophomore at the high school. Emily has excelled academically in her time here at Carbondale Area. She has been a member of Academic Honors, the National Honor Society, and the High Honor Roll for all six years. She also serves as the National Honor Society Treasurer. Her favorite subject is History.

Emily has been involved in numerous extracurricular activities throughout high school, all while excelling academically. She is a six-year member of the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS), where she has qualified for the state competition on several occasions. She is the Treasurer of Student Council as a five-year member. She is President of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), where she has qualified for the national competition twice as a four-year member. Emily is a four-year member of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Spanish Club, and Science and Technology Club. She is a three-year member of the Chargerettes Soccer team and a two-year member of Unified Track and Field. She is also a member of Physics, Math, and Library Clubs. She is employed at her father’s technology company during the summer months.

Emily’s hobbies include baking and reading. Her favorite CA memory is PJAS States in 2019. She plans to attend the W.A. Franke Honors College at the University of Arizona on a full tuition scholarship where she will study Astronomy-Physics. The Carbondale Area School District congratulates Emily on her achievements thus far and wishes her the best of luck in her future endeavors.
