For years, the members of Carbondale Area’s Student Council have generously donated to those in need through the Feed a Friend Program. Due to the pandemic, this year’s collection took on a different look. Under the direction of Student Council co-advisors Joanna Grizzanti and Teressa Dombrosky, each member was asked to invite their family, friends, and loved ones to make a monetary donation. Even the faculty in our high school participated, and we were able to raise over $1000. Our little town of Carbondale is known for its ability to join together in times of need and help those less fortunate. Our collection speaks volumes to the character of our students and staff at CA.
Brothers Joshua and Jacob Berg, Student Council members in the sophomore and freshman classes, respectively, collected the most out of everyone. “I went around to family and friends to ask for donations,” noted Josh. “Normally I ask for canned goods, but with the pandemic, Student Council kept it to strictly monetary donations. I was happy my brother and I were able to collect as much as we did because people may not have had as much to give this year due to the pandemic, but they were still very generous. I hope this money can be used to provide struggling families with a good holiday meal.”
